Senior Tax Manager – Reporting & Governance
  
Smart Tax Search is delighted to be partnering with a huge global organisation and household brand. Due to a local restructure, we are looking for an experienced Australian Tax professional with a focus in Tax Compliance, Reporting and governance to join the Australia, NZ and Pacific team.
  
  
The role will be based in their Head office in North Sydney but working from home and flexibility is available. Reporting to the local Head of Tax, the key responsibilities of the role will be as follows:

• Support and review of the Australian tax consolidated group income tax return and supporting schedules, file notes, work papers and audit trails prepared by the offshore shared services team,
• Review the monthly income tax instalments’ calculations
• Support and review the monthly preparation of the Australian Business Activity Statement (BAS), returns for the Goods & Services Tax (GST) group, and other tax returns,
• Support and review the annual Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) return for all entities in Australia including the provision of technical advice to the Business Units on compliance with the FBT Act and managing external stakeholders such as the ATO and relevant state payroll authorities.
• Support and review the transfer pricing documentation, and API Country by Country Reporting (CbCR), Australian Tax Contribution Report and other reports, ensuring compliance with OECD and local country guidelines.
• Manage tax-related SOX controls with internal and external auditors, and support external tax audits
• Identify, report and manage key areas of tax risks and opportunities and ensure consistency with the business’ tax strategy, policies, and governance framework, to ensure that the organisation meets its tax obligations in the most efficient manner.
• Maintain knowledge of existing and proposed tax laws and regulations in the business’ international jurisdictions, including AP BU, through continuous learning and development, regular communication with local stakeholders (e.g., PACS/Legal) and external resources.
• Support the implementation of relevant compliance tools and procedures to improve compliance efficiency and consistency within the group.
• Support the local Head of Tax, AP and other members of the Group Tax team with ad hoc group projects.

  
  
Skills, qualifications & attributes of the successful candidate:

• Circa 10+ years’ experience in Australian Corporate Tax with background in a Big4 or top 10 Accounting firm, or a large corporate,
• Minimum degree qualified with a relevant post-grad qualification such as; CA/CPA/Masters of Tax or equivalent,
• Expertise of Australian and International taxation principles, legislation, policies and processes,
• Strong understanding of accounting concepts
• Working knowledge of SAP-ECC, S/4 HANA or other large ERP systems.
• Detail-oriented, proactive, self-motivated individual who takes ownership of projects, and possess excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with proven ability to form strong working relationships.
