The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals New South Wales (RSPCA NSW) is a not-for-profit animal welfare organisation. We provide a strong voice for animals experiencing cruelty and neglect. RSPCA NSW is committed to the care and welfare of animals, providing extensive professional facilities, including fully equipped veterinary hospitals and our state-wide shelter network, with approximately 500 staff across NSW to care for animals.
We are seeking to recruit a full-time Veterinary Nurse (12-month contract) to provide medical support to veterinarians and ensure high standards of animal wellbeing and care for animals in the care of RSPCA NSW.
This role involves working on a seven-day rotating roster between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, including occasional weekends and public holidays. There is also a 365-day after-hours service with associated on-call rostering. On-call allowances and call out fees are additional to the hourly rate.

About the Role:
Administer medications with total accuracy
Observe animals for injury, illness, and behavioural problems
Assist in Veterinary examinations, performing medical procedures, and surgical procedures when required
Prepare and assist with medical procedures, including X-rays
Perform medical nursing routines, including fluid therapy, IVC placement, taking bloods, observation, and the appropriate pre-operation preparation of animals
Provide environmental enrichment and exercise
Perform surgical nursing routines and assist with theatre routines, including dental procedures, cleaning & sterilisation of surgical equipment, cleaning and miniatous of theatre equipment, desexing, and anesthesia
Run lab tests and maintain Idexx and white goods as appropriate
Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and disease control
About YouYou will have the confidence to interact with customers from all walks of life and possess the following:
Certificate IV in Vet Nursing or relevant qualification
Previous experience as a Vet Nurse
Excellent animal handling skills
A thorough knowledge of veterinary nursing procedures
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
