RSPCA NSW is Australia's best known and most respected animal welfare organisation working tirelessly to prevent animal cruelty.
Keeping Cats Safe at Home Phase 2 (Regional Expansion)
Keeping Cats Safe at Home is an innovative RSPCA NSW project funded by a grant from the NSW Government through its Environmental Trust. This 18-month project will build on the success of Keeping Cats Safe at Home Phase 1 which was conducted in partnership with 11 local councils between 2021 and 2024.
Keeping Cats Safe at Home aims to reduce the environmental impacts of free-roaming cats using a holistic human behaviour-change approach, social marketing and local targeted cat desexing.
A state-wide social marketing campaign will equip cat caregivers with high quality information on cat care and behaviour while encouraging them to prevent their cats from roaming away from home.
Place-based targeted cat desexing programs will be delivered in 30 council areas across NSW to reduce populations of unowned cats and prevent unplanned breeding amongst owned cats. These aim to reduce cat overpopulation and combat cat homelessness.
The project will work closely with local stakeholders including councils, veterinarians, wildlife organisations, animal welfare organisations and the public.
THE OPPORTUNITY
The Project Manager will be responsible for leading the project team to deliver the project in accordance with the project business plan. The project team includes three Project Officers, two Desexing Coordinators, a part-time Education Officer and a Communications Officer.
