About the role: This is a broad, generalist role for someone who thrives working autonomously. As the sole HR professional, you will be the go-to person for all people-related matters - from employment contracts and compliance through to performance management and workplace culture.
The position is a non-award, salaried role with flexible working hours designed to meet the needs of our shift-based workforce, ensuring employees have access to HR support.
Key Responsibilities:
Act as the sole HR point of contact for all staff, providing practical advice to managers and employees on policies, conditions, and workplace behavior
Manage performance, disciplinary, and grievance processes in line with procedural fairness and the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth), and support early resolution of workplace conflict
Maintain accurate position descriptions across the organisation
Liaise with operational supervisors on rostering compliance, monitor shift-related patterns, and provide data-informed recommendations on fatigue and absenteeism
Design and administer flexible work arrangements in accordance with s.65 of the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth)
Maintain employee records within the HRIS (Privacy Act 1988), administer all leave types, and provide HR data to payroll
Support WHS compliance, incident reporting, and return-to-work coordination under the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (Cth)
Draft and maintain employment contracts ensuring NES compliance
Develop and review HR policies, deliver workforce analytics and reporting, and contribute to HR projects and business improvement initiatives
Stay current with employment legislation changes and advise management accordingly
Coordinate training and development accessible across all shifts, and track mandatory compliance training completion

Selection Criteria:
Minimum 4 years of experience in a generalist HR or office-based HR role, with demonstrated ability to work autonomously as a sole HR practitioner
Thorough knowledge of the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth), National Employment Standards (NES), and individual contract employment obligations
Proven experience drafting and managing individual employment contracts for non-award employees
Demonstrated ability to advise and support managers and employees at all levels on a broad range of HR matters
Strong understanding of, or experience in, shift-based or 24/7 operational environments
High level of discretion, integrity, and sound professional judgement in managing sensitive and confidential matters
Proficient in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite
Availability and willingness to work flexible hours to support shift workers across varying start and finish times
Tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline (Bachelor's degree or Diploma of HR Management)
Membership with the Australian HR Institute (AHRI) is highly regarded
Desirable
Experience in industries with shift-based workforces (e.g., health, aged care, manufacturing, transport, emergency services, hospitality)
Knowledge of fatigue risk management and WHS obligations relating to shift work
Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety or equivalent
