Join a premium Australian Commercial Furniture Manufacturer, designing and making custom and standard pieces here in Sydney since 1989. Their work goes into some of the country's most demanding workplace and government projects.
Their manufacturing division is growing, and they're looking for a
Technical Designer who is mechanically minded, practical and keen to learn, to join their design team and grow into a key part of how they turn ideas into finished products.
This is a
hands-on technical role based in the office within their
state-of-the-art Smithfield manufacturing facility, working directly alongside their Lead Technical Designer, who'll be your mentor and the key to your success.
You'll be
supported, mentored and trained in their
systems and standards.
They're as interested in the right attitude and aptitude as they are in years on the tools.
The role - Translate design concepts and won projects into detailed, manufacturing-ready drawings
- Produce CNC/CAM files, cut lists and nesting, and prepare output for the in-house CNC and nesting machines
- Liaise with CNC operators on design specifications and best-practice processes
- Work with customers on client-specific designs and requirements
- Liaise with suppliers on componentry and best practice
- Work closely design and production teams to create designs that are efficient, practical, and easy to manufacture.
- Help refine drawing standards and workflows as the business grows
About you - A qualification or background in industrial design, or a related design/drafting discipline- graduates are welcome to apply
- Confident in 3D CAD design and modelling; experience with SolidWorks, Pytha or a similar package is an advantage
- Experience with, or a genuine appetite to learn, CAM software and manufacturing workflows
- An eye for detail, accuracy and real curiosity about how things are made
- Strong communication skills, and comfortable working independently and as part of a team
- Energy, enthusiasm, good time management and a proactive, problem-solving approach
- Above all, keen to learn their way of working and develop your career
