The Role:
  
Our client, a leading national Australian law firm, is seeking a Senior Associate or Special Counsel to join its highly regarded Insolvency & Commercial Disputes team in Melbourne.
  
This is a newly created position within a fast-growing and strategically important practice. You will manage complex commercial disputes involving multiple stakeholders, technical legal issues and commercial sensitivities.
  
This opportunity is well suited to a senior disputes lawyer seeking genuine leadership responsibility, high-quality matters and a clear pathway toward partnership.
  
Responsibilities:
  
You will be responsible for:
  

• Managing a diverse portfolio of complex commercial disputes and insolvency matters;
• Developing and executing sophisticated case strategies;
• Working closely with Partners, Counsel and a sophisticated client base;
• Supervising and mentoring junior lawyers;
• Contributing to business development initiatives and client growth strategies; and
• Supporting the continued expansion of the practice.

  
Experience in class actions, complex commercial litigation and arbitrations will be highly regarded.
  
Requirements:
  
The ideal candidate will have:
  

• 7+ years’ post-admission experience in insolvency and/or commercial disputes from a respected mid-tier or top-tier firm
• Strong technical ability and sound commercial judgement
• Demonstrated mentoring and supervision experience
• Excellent communication and client relationship management skills
• A proactive mindset with genuine interest in business development
• Clear partnership aspirations
