The Role

Our client, a highly respected global insurer, is seeking an Accident & Health Claims Technical Lead, with strong experience in A&H claims in Sydney, Brisbane or Melbourne.

Job Duties

Our client, a leading global insurer, is seeking a Senior Claims Specialist to manage Accident & Health claims. Responsibilities include:

• Overseeing the full Accident & Health claims process, ensuring fairness, efficiency, and compliance
• Providing technical direction and oversight to third-party administrators (TPAs)
• Handling complex, sensitive, or escalated claims matters
• Acting as a key contact for emergency assistance cases, including after-hours support
• Authorising claim payments within delegated authority and monitoring reserve adequacy
• Delivering training, coaching, and guidance to service providers to maintain high standards
• Managing complaints and dispute resolution processes
• Identifying emerging risks and trends, supporting loss reduction initiatives
• Using data and analytics to improve claims performance and outcomes
• Preparing compliance reports, audits, and performance metrics
• Building strong relationships with brokers, clients, service providers, and internal teams
• Contributing to claims strategy and integrating with broader business functions

Experience & Qualifications

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

• Extensive experience in managing Accident & Health claims within the insurance sector
• Strong technical knowledge of Accident & Health products, regulations, and claims processes
• Solid understanding of APRA, AFCA, ASIC frameworks, the Insurance Contracts Act, and the General Insurance Code of Practice
• Excellent verbal and written communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
• Strong analytical and decision-making skills with high attention to detail
• Ability to collaborate effectively and build strong stakeholder relationships
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and claims management systems
• Relevant insurance qualifications or certifications (desirable)
