Mary MacKillop Childcare North Queensland (MMCNQ) provides high-quality early childhood education and care services to families across the Diocese of Townsville. Our services span from Ingham in the north, Proserpine in the south, Mount Isa in the west and Palm Island in the east. Today, MMCNQ operates 5 Early Learning Centres, 9 Kindergartens and 14 Outside School Hours Care services.
About the position
We are seeking a passionate and reliable Food Services Educator to join our team in a permanent part-time position commencing in July 2026.
The position offers a minimum of 20 hours per week. Depending on the successful applicant's qualifications, experience and interest in undertaking educator responsibilities, the role may be tailored to provide up to 37.5 hours per week across Food Services and Educator duties.
Based at either our Kirwan or Rasmussen Early Learning Centre, you will support children's health and wellbeing through the safe preparation and service of nutritious meals and snacks, while maintaining high standards of food safety, hygiene and compliance.
About the Role As a Food Services Educator, you will:
- Receive, check and safely store food deliveries.
- Prepare, portion and serve nutritious meals and snacks.
- Maintain compliance with food safety and hygiene requirements.
- Complete food safety monitoring, temperature checks and record keeping.
- Support children's dietary, allergy and medical requirements.
- Maintain kitchen cleanliness, sanitisation schedules and food storage systems.
- Monitor food quality and liaise with approved suppliers as required.
- Promote healthy eating practices and positive mealtime experiences.
- Participate in food safety audits, reviews and continuous improvement activities.
What You'll Need to Succeed: - Knowledge of food safety, hygiene and safe food handling practices.
- Food Safety and Food Handling qualifications (or willingness to obtain).
- Strong attention to detail, particularly when managing allergies, dietary requirements and medical needs.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- The ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- A proactive approach to identifying and managing food safety risks.
- A commitment to children's health, wellbeing and nutrition.
- The ability to work collaboratively with educators, families and suppliers.
- A positive attitude and willingness to contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- An understanding of compliance requirements within food service or education and care environments.
