Mary MacKillop Childcare North Queensland is dedicated to delivering exceptional care to families across the Diocese of Townsville, spanning from Ingham in the North to Proserpine in the South, Mount Isa in the West, and Palm Island to the East. We have grown to include 5 Early Learning Centres, 9 Kindergartens and 14 Outside School Hours Care centres.
MMCNQ is seeking an experience Human Resource Business Partner to join our People & Safety team and provide trusted, hands-on HR support across our services.
About the position
As a Human Resources Business Partner, you will work closely with service leaders and managers to deliver end-to-end HR advice and support across the employee lifecycle. This is a true generalist HRBP role, focused on practical problem-solving, compliance, and building leader capability.
You will support leaders with recruitment, performance management, employee relations, workforce planning, and HR systems, while ensuring alignment with employment legislation, industrial instruments, and MMCNQ policies.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, autonomy, and partnering directly with leaders in a values-driven, operational environment.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Providing generalist HR advice and business partnering support to leaders and managers
- Supporting recruitment, onboarding, contracts, and probity processes
- Managing performance, probation, conduct, and disciplinary matters
- Supporting workforce planning, change, and succession activities
- Ensuring employment compliance, award interpretation, and policy application
- Supporting payroll integrity, HR systems, and employee data accuracy
- Contributing to HR projects aligned to MMCNQ’s Strategic and Workforce Plans
- Upholding MMCNQ’s commitment to safeguarding children and vulnerable persons
What you’ll need to succeed:
- A degree qualification in Human Resources or a related discipline (preferred)
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a generalist HR or HR Business Partner role
- Strong working knowledge of employment legislation and industrial instruments
- Confidence managing case work and advising leaders on people matters
- Strong communication, judgement, and stakeholder engagement skills
- High attention to detail and a practical, solutions-focused approach
- Current Queensland Blue Card
- Criminal History Check
- Current Driver’s License
Experience in education, early learning, community, or not-for-profit sectors will be highly regarded.
