Mary MacKillop Childcare North Queensland is dedicated to delivering exceptional care to families across the Diocese of Townsville, spanning from Ingham in the North to Proserpine in the South, Mount Isa in the West, and Palm Island to the East. We have grown to include 6 Early Learning Centres, 9 Kindergartens and 14 Outside School Hours Care centres.

About the position
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Work Health and Safety (WHS) Business Partner to lead and enhance our safety systems and culture. Working across MMCNQ and Diocesan entities, this role partners closely with leaders to ensure compliance, drive continuous safety improvements, and promote a strong wellbeing culture.

This is a full-time, permanent position working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, People and Safety, the WHS Business Partner will provide responsive, effective, and solutions-focused WHS support to our teams, contributing to a safe and healthy workplace for all.

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Partner with managers and leaders to embed a strong, proactive WHS culture.
• Coordinate risk management, incident investigations, and audits.
• Manage compliance frameworks and safety improvement initiatives.
• Provide expert advice and training to enhance safety capability.
• Oversee injury management and return-to-work processes.

What you’ll need to succeed:

• Diploma or higher qualification in Work Health and Safety.
• Demonstrated WHS leadership or business partnering experience.
• Knowledge of WHS legislation and Codes of Practice.
• Strong communication, coaching, and influencing skills.
