Mary MacKillop Childcare North Queensland is dedicated to delivering exceptional care to families across the Diocese of Townsville, spanning from Ingham in the North to Proserpine in the South, Mount Isa in the West, and Palm Island to the East. We have grown to include 6 Early Learning Centres, 9 Kindergartens and 14 Outside School Hours Care centres.
About the position
We are seeking an experienced Area Manager to join our team and commence as soon as practical. This is a full-time, permanent position (37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday) that requires regular travel between our services in Townsville and one day each week will be based at our Townsville City office.
You will be joining a supportive leadership team that includes three other experienced Area Managers, working collaboratively to drive excellence and consistency across our services.
Working closely with the Operations Manager and other specialist teams, the Area Manager will provide leadership, guidance, and strategic direction across their service cluster. This role is responsible for ensuring the effective operational implementation and integration of MMCNQ’s vision, values, and strategic plan within day-to-day service delivery.

What you’ll need to succeed:
- A minimum of a Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care (or an equivalent ACECQA-approved qualification) is required. Tertiary qualifications are highly desirable.
- Current Queensland Working with Children Check (Blue Card)
- 5+ years experience in a management role within an education and care environment
- Understanding of contemporary early learning related issues and challenges, with a demonstrated capacity to address such issues and challenges
- Strong time management and organisational skills with the capacity to work unsupervised, manage priorities and meet deadlines under pressure
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely to a broad range of stakeholders.
