About the Role
We are seeking an experienced paralegal to join our Taxation team to support their expanding workload. Working with a small team of experts in their field, this is a great opportunity to further build your career and gain hands on experience with a client focussed team known for managing complex matters with outcomes focus on the needs of our clients. You will enjoy being involved in managing optimal outcomes for clients and developing quality relationships with them over time.
About You
As an experienced paralegal, this role will involve researching and analysing various legal and taxation issues in providing advice and tax litigation support over the several taxation areas across which the taxation team works including:
- Researching, interpreting and applying legislation to particular fact scenarios.
- Preparation and analysis of case and research notes.
- Managing the discovery phase of a case, including client interviews and legal research.
- Preparing and analysing evidence, including document summaries and financial comparisons.
- Drafting and proofreading legal documents, including instructions, indexes to briefs and statements of fact.
- Creating and running data rooms.
- Using litigation support systems to capture relevant documents and evidence and use of interrogative tools.
- Administering and managing files, paperwork, data, documents and evidence, including court filing.
- Arranging mediation and briefing between parties that are in dispute
- Developing and maintaining current knowledge in relation to the taxation practice area
- Ad hoc administration including file closures, archiving and scanning
To be successful in this role you will be someone who can work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team, while having excellent attention to detail and a rigorous focus on producing quality work. You will be highly organised and efficient with a strong proficiency in a range of technology solutions including MS Office products, DMS, Aderant and dictation. Experience in Commercial Litigation is desirable.
