Health Care Assistants – Primary Health Care
Turuki Health Care is a kaupapa Māori organisation delivering integrated health, wellbeing and social services across Tāmaki Makaurau. Our mission is to provide high-quality, accessible and affordable healthcare to whānau, with a strong focus on equity and culturally responsive care.
We are seeking motivated and committed Health Care Assistants to join our Māngere Clinic team. These roles are ideal for individuals passionate about serving Māori and Pasifika communities and making a meaningful impact in South Auckland.
Applicants must be currently residing in Aotearoa, have the legal right to work and have relevant local work experience.
Te whiwhinga mahi – The opportunity
As valued members of our clinical team, you will work alongside General Practitioners, Registered Nurses and Administrators to ensure whānau receive high-quality, culturally safe care.
This is a full-time position working rostered shifts between 8.00am and 6.00pm, Monday to Friday.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting patient triage and monitoring vital signs
- Accurate data entry into Medtech
- Preparing and stocking clinical rooms and triage areas
- Assisting clinical staff with patient care and procedures
- Providing compassionate, whānau-centred support to patients
While experience in primary care is highly desirable, we will also consider applicants who are looking to begin a career in primary health care and can demonstrate strong New Zealand work experience, a genuine commitment to community wellbeing, and the ability to thrive in a clinical environment.
Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako – Skills and experience To be successful in this role, you will have:
- New Zealand-based work experience (essential)
- Experience in healthcare, community services, or customer-facing roles (highly desirable)
- Confidence performing or learning clinical tasks such as blood pressure checks and patient observations
- Experience using Medtech (advantageous)
- A good level of communication skills and the ability to build rapport with Māori and Pasifika whānau
- An understanding of tikanga Māori and culturally responsive care
- The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment
The ability to speak Te Reo Māori or a Pacific language is highly advantageous.
