Turuki Health Care is a kaupapa Māori organisation delivering integrated health, wellbeing and social services across the Tāmaki Makaurau region. We provide quality, accessible, and affordable healthcare and support to whānau.
Te whiwhinga mahi - The Opportunity
Are you passionate about walking alongside whānau and creating meaningful change in the community?
We’re growing our Whānau Ora team and are on the lookout for experienced, passionate and community minded Kaiwhiriwhiri to join us!
You will be part of a high-performing team committed to doing whatever it takes to support whānau. Our approach is integrated and holistic – grounded in Te Ao Māori and woven through with the principles of wairua, hinengaro, tinana, whatumanawa and whānau.
We are offering a variety of full-time 12-month fixed term Kaiwhiriwhiri roles, each with a unique area of focus:
- Rangatahi
- Kuia/Kaumātua
- Māmā & Pēpi
- General Kaiwhiriwhiri roles committed to uplifting the wellbeing of whānau
As Kaiwhiriwhiri you will be responsible for creating a safe and empowering space for whānau to explore solutions and strengthen their futures. You will walk alongside whānau as they navigate challenges and opportunities across health, housing, education, employment, relationships and overall wellbeing.
You will bring experience working with whānau in areas such as mental health, addictions, social services or housing and have a practical understanding of whānau-centred, therapeutic or group-based work. Most Importantly, you will be driven to make a difference, values the mana of others, and thrives in a role that calls for empathy, action and community connection.
Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako – Skills and Experience - Experience working with whānau in the community, social, health or youth services
- A strong understanding of Te Ao Māori, Kaupapa Māori Values and Whānau Ora approaches
- The ability to build trust and maintain relationships with empathy, respect and cultural safety
- Confident in navigating complex systems and advocating for whānau
- Excellent communication, collaboration and planning skills
- A relevant qualification in Social Work, Health, Youth Work or Community Services is preferred but not essential – we welcome candidates with lived experience or proven work experience in these areas
- Suitable for New Graduate Social Workers
- Full NZ Drivers Licence
- Ability to speak Te Reo Māori an advantage
