WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
As the Architecture Practice Lead you will coordinate and support domain and solution architects, facilitate governance forums such as the Technical Design Authority Forum and the Architecture Review Board (ARB), and ensure architecture tools and frameworks are configured, maintained, and used effectively.
You will:
- Oversee the daily operations of the architecture practice, ensuring consistent ways of working, fit-for-purpose governance, and a predictable delivery cadence for architecture engagement.
- Coordinate and support Domain and Solution Architects, providing guidance on practice expectations and quality, and helping remove delivery impediments so their work aligns to agreed principles, standards, and patterns.
- Facilitate key governance forums such as the Technical Design Authority Forum and the Architecture Review Board (ARB), ensuring that architectural decisions, designs, and solutions are reviewed consistently and align with organisational standards and delivery constraints. Document and track decisions, actions, and outcomes from governance meetings.
- Oversee the selection, implementation, and management of architecture tools, frameworks, and repositories, ensuring they are used effectively to support modelling, documentation, traceability, and reporting.
- Provide operational and practice support to the Principal Architect, enabling them to focus on strategic architecture, senior stakeholder engagement, and critical decision points. Assist in preparing reports, presentations, and materials for senior leadership and governance.
- Continuously assess and improve architecture practice processes, templates, and guidance to increase efficiency, consistency, and compliance with standards. Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and enhance collaboration across delivery teams.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to embed architecture ways of working into planning and delivery, ensuring alignment between architecture outcomes, delivery plans, and business needs. Support the Principal Architect in communicating practice priorities and value to senior stakeholders.
- Conduct architecture “Lunch and Learn” sessions/training with the Polaris program team to enable a stronger understanding of architecture guidelines, practices and requirements.
- Maintain and curate architecture documentation, ensuring decisions, standards, patterns, and guidelines are captured, governed, and accessible. Contribute to the development and maintenance of architecture standards, templates, and best practices.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING To be successful in the role of Architecture Practice Lead, you will have previous experience in a similar position.
Your background will demonstrate your:
- Extensive experience in leading or running an architecture practice (or similar delivery assurance function), with a proven track record in establishing governance, ways of working, and supporting architecture teams
- Demonstrated skills in mentoring, coaching and supporting teams with the ability to manage team workload and prioritise tasks effectively
- In-depth knowledge of architecture governance frameworks (e.g., TOGAF, Zachman, or other industry standard methodologies) with experience facilitating architecture review boards and design authorities
- Experience with architecture modelling and management tools (e.g., Orbus Infinity, ARIS, Enterprise Architect, ArchiMate, etc.) with a strong understanding of architecture repository management and process automation
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams. Ability to communicate complex architecture concepts in a clear and concise manner to both technical and nontechnical stakeholders
- Strong problem-solving abilities, with a focus on continuous improvement and the ability to assess and optimise architecture processes for efficiency and effectiveness.
