WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
As the Learning and Development Lead, you will lead a small team responsible for designing, delivering and continuously improving impactful learning and capability initiatives. You’ll work across the organisation to build capability, strengthen leadership, support transformation and foster a culture of growth and performance.
You will:
- Lead the capability function, designing, implementing and improving enterprise-wide learning tools, frameworks and programs
- Mentor and develop a team of learning professionals, fostering collaboration and innovation
- Partner with leader and key stakeholders to identify capability needs and deliver sustainable business aligned learning solutions
- Embed learning strategies that drive adoption, impact, and measurable results
- Develop frameworks to assess effectiveness of learning programs using data-driven insights
- Champion modern, technology-enabled learning methodologies that create engaging and scalable learner experiences
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders on capability, learning and workforce development priorities
- Manage relationships with external learning providers and industry experts to enhance offerings and stay ahead of best practice
- Support planning and monitoring of learning budgets, vendor contracts, and licensing agreements to ensure cost-effective solutions
- Oversee learning systems (including LMS) to ensure functionality, accessibility, and an excellent user experience

This is a full-time permanent role based in Newcastle.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING You’re an experienced Learning and Development professional, with the ability to think strategically, influence at senior levels, and inspire a small, high-performing team. You‘re passionate about building capability and embedding a culture of learning that drives real performance outcomes.
You’ll demonstrate:
- Significant experience in learning and development, organisational capability or similar roles
- Proven ability to design, deliver and evaluate enterprise-wide capability and leadership programs
- Strength in stakeholder engagement, partnering with leaders to identify needs, shape solutions and influence outcomes
- Experience in leading and developing teams to deliver impactful learning initiatives
- Excellent communication, presentation, and facilitation skills
- Passion for fostering a positive culture of learning and leadership development
- Financial Acumen to support budget and vendor management effectively
- Knowledge of the employee lifecycle and generalist HR principles
- Strong understanding of contemporary learning methodologies, including digital and blended learning approaches
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Suite, SharePoint, and learning design tools (Articulate 360, Vyond, Canva, etc.)
- Experience managing Learning Management Systems (ELMO desirable) and learning design tools such as Articulate 360, Vyond, and Canva
You will have a bachelor’s degree in Learning & Development, Human Resources, Adult Education, or a related field or equivalent. Desirable certifications are Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, Kirkpatrick Evaluation Certification, TMP (Talent Management Profile) and Genos practitioner certification.
