WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
As the Investment Analyst, you will have previous experience in asset management with an investment manager, superannuation fund, asset consultant or insurance organisation with a keen interest in investment management and operations.
You will:
- Create quantitative models of markets and investment managers to help inform dynamic re-balancing of the portfolio
- Contribute to idea generation to identify return opportunities and manage risk to ensure the Fund delivers on its objectives
- Monitor and evaluate the performance and risk characteristics of the total portfolio, asset classes, and managers
- Lead and support operational activities, including portfolio rebalancing, manager instructions and cash and liquidity management
- Develop and maintain processes, procedures, and investments documentation to ensure currency and fit for purpose
- Build and maintain strong relationships with the key service providers, including the Asset Consultant, Custodian, Investment Managers and Actuary
- Build an understanding of the wider organisation strategic plan and direction, and how the Investment Team contributes to the delivery of strategic priorities
- Actively represent and display the CLSL TORCH Values by ensuring all interactions uphold this standard
- Contribute to a positive, outcomes focused team culture, which is aligned to the broader organisational culture and strategic objectives
- Effectively communicate and collaborate with stakeholders on key deliverables
This is a permanent role based in Newcastle. Hybrid working conditions are offered.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING To be successful in the role of Investment Analyst, you will have a curious nature and passion for financial markets. You enjoy being hands-on and turning data into insights - building rebalancing models, exploring scenario analysis, and monitoring cash flows and performance. Your analytical mindset and attention to detail will help shape sound investment decisions and provide valuable recommendations.
Your background will demonstrate your:
- Asset management experience gained with an investment manager, superannuation fund, asset consultant or insurance organisation
- Excellent financial modelling and analytical skills
- Ability to build dynamic re-balancing models, create scenario analysis, data management, assess cash flows, and performance calculations
- Experience in process documentation and working with detailed operational procedures
- Practical knowledge and involvement in portfolio management with third parties and the ability to build and maintain effective relationships
- Expertise in developing business reports, ensuring exceptional attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Proficiency in Microsoft software (Excel, Word, Powerpoint).
- Strong team focus with the ability to work autonomously
You will have a bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Accounting, Commerce, Data Science, or equivalent.
