Podiatry @ Sports & Spinal Group is looking for an Orthotic Technician to join our growing team. Whether you have experience in orthotic manufacturing or are looking to step into a new technical role with full training provided, we’d love to hear from you.
About the Role
As an Orthotic Technician, you will support the production of custom orthotic devices by operating specialised machinery, assembling components, and ensuring each product meets our high-quality standards. You’ll work closely with our podiatry team to bring custom designs to life and help deliver exceptional outcomes for our patients.
Key Responsibilities
Orthotic Fabrication & Machine Operation
- Operate CNC milling machines to produce custom orthotic shells
- Calibrate and program machinery for accurate output
- Conduct in-process and final quality checks
Assembly & Finishing - Assemble additions and top covers
- Perform trimming, grinding, polishing, and adhesive work
- Ensure all orthotics meet design and comfort requirements
Equipment Maintenance & Safety - Perform routine equipment care (full training provided)
- Report and troubleshoot equipment issues
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workspace
Packaging & Shipping - Package orthotics to ensure safe transport
- Prepare shipping labels and dispatch orders on time
Customer & Clinical Support - Liaise with podiatrists regarding design specifications and modifications
- Provide technical feedback where required
Inventory & Quality Assurance - Maintain stock levels and assist with ordering
- Follow quality control protocols and documentation processes
- Ensure compliance with medical device manufacturing standards
What We’re Looking For
Competencies & Qualifications - Experience in orthotic manufacturing (desirable, not essential)
- Strong manual handling and safety awareness
- Current Queensland Driver’s Licence
Personal Attributes - Great attention to detail and fine hand skills
- Self-motivated, reliable, and organised
- Experience with machinery or manual handling (bench grinder experience ideal but not required)
- Able to stand for extended periods and lift up to 10kg
- Most importantly—a willingness to learn and give things a go!
