ABOUT THE ROLE We are seeking a Handyperson to join the at Te Tirohanga ō Te Toangaroa in Auckland. Working in partnership with the University of Auckland, Te Tirohanga is home to 488 students and is a purpose-built student accommodation complex.
The key responsibilities of this role is to carry out maintenance of the student apartments, common areas and building exterior.
This is a full-time position, 40 hours a week across Monday to Friday however there is some requirement to work outside of normal office hours, including weekends and public holidays, in response to emergencies and other urgent matters.
Day to day duties - Inspect, report and carry out any general maintenance and minor repairs.
- Complete general repairs such as plumbing, light bulb changes, painting, plastering and carpentry and general investigative work to ascertain potential issues.
- Assist in the effective operations of the building and its compliance to OH&S requirements.
- Carry out apartment departure inspections and repairs.
- Provide assistance in a professional and efficient matter to residents.
- Provide administrative support to ensure the compliance schedule remains current and accurate.
- Liaise with contractors to address and resolve maintenance issues.
ABOUT YOU - Experience in a similar capacity in the accommodation, real estate or hospitality industry.
- Experience in general property and grounds maintenance and repairs (including electrical, plumbing installations and building maintenance).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to relate to people from diverse backgrounds.
- Current First Aid certificate and comprehensive understanding of basic Occupational Health and Safety principles and chemical handling or a willingness to obtain prior to commencement.
- NZ Police Vetting Check (must be willing to obtain).
