A well-established, New Zealand-owned hotel in the Auckland Airport Precinct is looking for a passionate and experienced Casual Demi Chef to join its kitchen team. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified chef who enjoys working across a variety of food service styles, including À La Carte, buffet, café, and conference catering.
About the Role As a Demi Chef, you will be responsible for preparing and presenting high-quality meals while maintaining excellent food safety and kitchen standards. You'll work as part of a professional team, delivering exceptional dining experiences for hotel guests and conference attendees.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook dishes for À La Carte service, buffets, cafés, and conference catering.
- Prepare ingredients and cook meals according to recipes and presentation standards.
- Ensure all food is prepared consistently and meets quality expectations.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations within the kitchen.
- Monitor stock levels and report shortages to senior chefs.
- Assist with receiving, storing, and rotating food supplies.
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
- Minimise food waste and use ingredients responsibly.
- Work collaboratively with the kitchen team during busy service periods.
What We're Looking For:
- Qualified Chef with 1–3 years' experience in a professional kitchen.
- Experience preparing À La Carte, buffet, café, and conference catering menus.
- Passion for creating quality food and delivering an exceptional guest experience.
- Up-to-date knowledge of current food trends and culinary techniques.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and use initiative when required.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Excellent understanding of food safety and health & safety requirements.
- Full New Zealand Driver Licence and reliable transport.
- Ability to pass a Ministry of Justice check, pre-employment drug test, and all other required pre-employment checks.
What's on Offer:
- Casual, part-time position (approximately 10 hours per week).
- $28.00 per hour.
- Flexible shifts across Monday to Sunday, with some shifts starting from 5:00 am.
