The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to join our H&S team and help us take our safety culture to the next level. Reporting to the GM Health & Safety, you will be the frontline champion for proactive safety across our sites - coaching leaders, running audits, and making sure every team member goes home safe.

This is a role for someone who thrives in the field, loves working with people, and has the detail-orientation to back it up with solid documentation and compliance.

What You Will Do

• Champion proactive safety culture through daily site interactions, toolbox talks, and safety campaigns
• Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments and make sure findings are actioned
• Lead incident investigations and root cause analyses, and prepare clear, accurate reports to ensure safe and healthy working conditions
• Train employees in occupational health and safety procedures
• Advise on and enforce workplace health and safety legislation, Chain of Responsibility (CoR), and Dangerous Goods requirements
• Develop, implement and monitor programs aimed at minimising workplace injuries and hazards
• Record and investigate injuries, near misses, and equipment damage, and report on safety performance and trends
• Keep PPE, safety signage, and all compliance records accurate and audit-ready at all times
• Coach and support site leaders and frontline teams to embed safe behaviours
• Review and update Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS) and Job Safety Analyses (JSA)
• Collaborate with peers and leadership across the business to share best practices and drive improvement

What We are Looking For

To be successful in this role you will bring:

• A Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety (or equivalent), or higher formal WHS / OHS qualification, or relevant work experience
• A solid understanding of WHS legislation, CoR, and risk management frameworks including PCBU obligations and duty of care
• Hands-on experience with risk assessments, incident investigations, and SWMS / JSA documentation
• Strong attention to detail and the discipline to keep records and reports consistently accurate
• Excellent communication and relationship building skills across all levels of a team
• The ability to handle sensitive incidents with professionalism and confidentiality
• A genuine passion for keeping people safe and building a positive safety culture

Bonus Points if you have

• Completed Lead Auditor Skill Set Course and/or Safety and Lead Auditor Course 
• Previous experience in a fast-paced operational or frontline environment
• Exposure to external audits and regulatory inspections
• Familiarity with safety systems and digital record-keeping tools
• A strong understanding of Young Guns’ values and operational processes, including container unloading processes and associated safety risks
