About the Role
As a State Trainer and H&S Advisor, you will support operational excellence through developing our team's capability and promoting a proactive safety culture.
This position is responsible for designing and delivering training programs, overseeing Health & Safety compliance, conducting safety audits, investigations and risk assessments, while engaging closely with site and leadership teams to ensure safety and training initiatives are effectively embedded at the site level.
In detail, some of your key responsibilities will include:
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure site operations meet all relevant Health & Safety legislation and guidelines.
- Conduct regular incident inspections, safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
- Implement corrective or preventative action to mitigate risk.
- Oversee PPE and safety signage.
- Support compliance with Chain of Responsibility and Dangerous Goods requirements.
- Assist during external audits and inspections.
Training & Onboarding
- Facilitate classroom-based learning, site inductions, and operational training for new team members.
- Mentor and assess team competency.
- Develop leadership pipeline.
- Deliver high-risk work training.
- Maintain an up-to-date training matrix.
Culture & Engagement - Promote a positive, proactive safety culture through daily interactions, meetings, and campaigns.
- Engage with team leaders and frontline team to encourage safe behaviours and hazard reporting, while providing real-time coaching and feedback.
Reporting & Administration - Support the continuous improvement of processes, materials and tasks.
- Ensure accurate records for compliance and audit purposes.
- Prepare regular reports on performance, compliance, and audit outcomes.
Planning & Collaboration - Align training and safety initiatives with business needs through participation in operational and functional meetings.
- Actively collaborate with peers and leadership for feedback, support, and the sharing of best practices.
About You A successful candidate will be required to meet the following criteria:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage across all positions of the workforce.
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail and record-keeping.
In addition, the following areas are advantageous to your application:
- Minimum 2–3 years' experience in a similar WHS or training coordination role within warehousing, transport, or logistics.
- Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety (or working towards).
- Current forklift licence (LF); ability to assess forklift operation competency.
- Demonstrated understanding of Australian WHS laws and warehouse
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122 or earlier equivalent).
- First Aid Certificate (HLTAID011).
- Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) or digital WHS platforms.
- Safety Lead auditor qualifications
- Safety Lead Investigator qualifications
