Southern Cross Care QLD have an opportunity for a Maintenance Officer to join our SCCQ family at our Caloundra Rise Retirement Estate in Little Mountain. This role is permanent part time, with a guaranteed minimum 15 hours per week with an opportunity to progress to Full-time in the new financial year.

About the role
In this crucial role, of a Maintenance Officer, you will work closely with the Estate Manager to ensure the maintenance work is carried out in alignment with a scheduled program. This role will also see you coordinate contractors where required and ensure all machinery and equipment is maintained in optimal operational condition. A friendly sociable personality coupled with empathy and compassion for the elderly will make you a perfect fit for this role.
Some key responsibilities of the role will include:
- Maintaining up to date electronic inventory of all equipment
- Developing the preventative maintenance program in consultation with the Estate Manager
- Building and maintaining effective relationships with local contractors
- Assessing and prioritizing daily work order requests and managing the completion of each order
- Regular servicing and maintenance of machinery/equipment
- Coordinating general building maintenance
- Carrying out work in accordance with Health and Safety requirements
What will you bring to the role? - Maintenance and/or Trade qualification
- Previous experience and knowledge in general and commercial maintenance.
- Previous experience managing contractor relationships is highly desirable
- Demonstrated ability to work from manuals and drawings
- Demonstrated problem solving and a “can do” attitude
- Current QLD Driver’s License (Bus licence would be considered highly desirable)
- Exceptional people and interpersonal skills
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
- Strong decision-making and time management skills
- Ability to work as part of a team but also be capable of working autonomously
