About the role Working as a
Catering Assistant, you will support the preparation, plating and service of nutritious and high-quality meals for our residents in accordance with Food Safety Program requirements.
As part of our dedicated Hospitality team, you will help create a positive and enjoyable dining experience for our residents while maintaining a clean, safe and hygienic kitchen environment. Your contribution will support the health, wellbeing and daily experience of our residents by ensuring meals are prepared and served with care and to a high standard.
What are the key responsibilities?
Duties may include, but are not limited to: - Assisting with food and vegetable preparation, including sandwich preparation.
- Plating food and ensuring meals are prepared and ready for service on time.
- Washing dishes and maintaining kitchen equipment, appliances, utensils and work areas in a clean and hygienic condition.
- Maintaining a safe, clean and tidy kitchen environment, including appropriate waste disposal.
- Completing basic meal records in consultation with the Chief Cook.
- Identifying and reporting incidents, hazards, maintenance concerns and quality issues as required.
- Complying with Food Safety, Infection Control, Workplace Health and Safety and quality requirements at all times.
- Participating in required training and following established work practices and procedures.
What will you bring to the role? - Compassion, sensitivity and respect when working with older people.
- Experience in an Aged Care, hospital or commercial kitchen is highly regarded.
- Good knowledge of food safety and safe food handling practices.
- Attention to detail and ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively and work well within a team.
- Flexibility to work a range of shifts, including weekends.
