Southern Cross Care (SCC) is seeking an efficient and friendly full-time Gardener to join our team at our beautiful Parque Vista Retirement Estate in Holland Park.

About the role
Working in this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing the gardens, grounds, and general presentation of our Holland Park retirement living site, while also undertaking routine maintenance duties across the village.
This position plays an important role in creating a safe, attractive, and welcoming environment for residents, visitors, and staff.
To be successful in this role, you will be approachable, reliable, hands-on, and take pride in your work. You will bring a positive, can-do attitude, the ability to work independently, and a genuine commitment to supporting older people in a retirement living environment.
Tasks may include but are not limited to: - Horticultural and grounds development, maintenance, and monitoring.
- Replanting and maintaining garden beds to suit seasonal conditions.
- Pruning trees and shrubs.
- Mowing, edging, fertilising, and keeping lawns free from weeds and debris.
- Clearing and removing garden refuse.
- Repairing and maintaining paths, drains, and edges.
- Ensuring fences and retaining walls are kept in good repair.
- Undertaking routine repair work and general maintenance across the site.
- Maintaining gardening machinery and equipment, including planning and implementing service schedules in line with manufacturers’ recommendations.
What will you bring to the role? - Certificate III in Parks and Gardens, Horticulture, or a related field is highly regarded.
- Demonstrated experience in general maintenance and commercial gardening.
- Knowledge of gardening equipment, trade resources, and suppliers of materials.
- Current manual driver’s licence.
- First Aid and CPR certification, or willingness to obtain.
- Strong ability to work autonomously and manage time effectively.
- Good written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work with a range of stakeholders.
- Friendly, reliable, and resident-focused approach.
- Commitment to workplace health and safety and legislative compliance.
