About the role
Reporting to the
Head of Retirement Living, the Retirement Living Manager will provide on-site leadership and operational oversight across our Broken Hill retirement villages to ensure residents enjoy a safe, secure, and independent lifestyle.
This role is responsible for resident experience, village administration, compliance, contractor and maintenance coordination, and community engagement. You will also support team capability, site presentation, and the smooth day-to-day running of the villages in line with Southern Cross Care standards.
In this role, your responsibilities will include:
- Leading the day-to-day operations across Con Crowley and War Veterans retirement villages.
- Ensuring emergency, fire safety, and communication systems are functional and regularly tested.
- Maintaining village procedures and ensuring compliance with the Retirement Villages Act (NSW) and SCCQ policies.
- Building strong relationships with residents, families, contractors, and the local community.
- Managing resident feedback and complaints professionally and confidently.
- Supporting resident meetings, communication, and village community activities.
- Coordinating new resident orientation to ensure a positive transition into village life.
- Managing village administration, records, contracts, and reporting systems.
- Overseeing gardening, grounds presentation, refuse management, and general site upkeep.
- Coordinating contractors, maintenance works, and unit refurbishments to support efficient re-leasing.
- Supporting workforce planning, team leadership, coaching, and positive communication.
- Ensuring compliance with Workplace Health and Safety policies and procedures.
- Contributing to continuous quality improvement and maintaining professional standards across the villages.
What will you bring to the role? - Previous experience in retirement living or a similar community-based environment.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to support and guide teams effectively.
- Experience managing contractors, service providers, and key stakeholders.
- Understanding of budgeting, financial planning, and administrative processes.
- Excellent communication, organisation, and time management skills.
- Strong conflict resolution and problem-solving capability.
- A respectful, mature, and empathetic approach when working with residents.
- Sales and marketing qualifications or experience will be highly regarded.
