Southern Cross Care has an exciting opportunity for a casual Catering Assistant to join the hospitality team working at Oasis Residential Aged Care Home in Mildura.

Any additional role/s will be subject to appropriate training, and any request will be considered based on relative business needs. Additional roles may include Lifestyle, Personal Care Worker and/or Domestic Assistant
What are the key responsibilities?
As a Catering assistant we are seeking someone who is able to assist in preparation of meals at the highest standard in food handling and meal preparation for our residents while embodying our values to meet our mission to support people in their choice of health, wellbeing and lifestyle, and our vision to value and respect human life. You will work as part of a team to prepare and deliver nutritious meals for our residents in accordance with the requirements of the Food Safety Program.
Duties may include but not be limited to:
- Food handling and preparation,
- Cooking and presentation of food and ensuring on time delivery of quality meals.
- Basic record keeping.
- Stock control, ordering (e.g. food, cleaning products), receiving, checking, weighing and storing.
- Cleaning of dishes, kitchen workspace, equipment, utensils and fixtures
- Complying with Workplace Health and Safety policies and procedures at all times.
What will you bring to the role? - Experience working in Aged Care/Hospital commercial kitchen (desired)
- You will demonstrate compassion, sensitivity and maturity to provide high quality meals
- Attention to detail and ability to follow both verbal and written instructions
- Must be flexible with start time and days (including weekends)
- Good knowledge of food safety (preferable HACCP)
- Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and to manage your time effectively
