Southern Cross Care Queensland has an exciting opportunity for a creative and vibrant Allied Health and Lifestyle Assistant to join our Duhig Village Residential Aged Care Home in Holland Park. In this rewarding role, you will work alongside our care, allied health and lifestyle teams to assist with the implementation of exercise, mobility and Leisure & Health programs for our residents.

About the roleIn this full-time role, you will be part of a compassionate, multidisciplinary team delivering person-centred and holistic support to our residents. You will assist with the delivery of exercise and mobility programs — including balance groups and hydrotherapy — while also helping to design and implement individual Leisure and Lifestyle plans. These programs aim to support, challenge and enhance residents’ physical, cognitive, social, emotional and spiritual wellbeing. A positive, “can-do” attitude is essential, as is the ability to motivate residents of varying abilities and to work collaboratively with clinical, care and lifestyle staff.
Some of your responsibilities may include: - Assist with exercise and mobility programs prescribed by the Physiotherapist or RN – including exercise classes, balance groups and hydrotherapy sessions.
- Support residents to safely participate in falls prevention, strength, mobility and functional programs.
- Plan and deliver lifestyle/leisure activities that promote social, emotional, spiritual, cognitive and physical wellbeing.
- Help develop and implement individual Leisure & Health / Diversional Therapy plans based on resident interests and abilities.
- Monitor and document resident progress and report any changes to clinical staff.
- Contribute to accreditation and compliance requirements for Leisure & Lifestyle programs.
- Support and encourage volunteers and other staff to be involved in activities.
- From time to time, assist with basic care-related tasks linked to running programs (e.g. hydration, set-up/pack-down, safe transfers, equipment cleaning).
What will you bring to the role? - Certificate III in Allied Health / Individual Support and/or Certificate IV in Leisure & Health (desirable).
- Experience delivering or assisting with exercise, balance or hydrotherapy programs.
- Understanding of aged care, person-centred practice and residents’ rights.
- Genuine commitment to supporting older people’s wellbeing.
- Friendly, engaging manner and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
- Good documentation skills, reliability and strong communication.
