About the role Reporting to the Manager – Health Safety and Wellbeing, as a WHS Advisor, you will play a pivotal role in driving the integration of safe culture and implementing key deliverable outcomes within SCC that strive for continuous improvement in health and safety, promote a culture of minimizing incident and injury risks, and support rigorous risk management, compliance, and robust safety outcomes.
This is a fantastic opportunity for you to play an essential role in advancing our work, health and safety processes through active engagement with team members and managers within SCC.
Responsibilities of the role will include:
- Collaborating with managers and property teams to identify and implement effective risk management strategies, including completing risk assessments prior to commencing capital works.
- Promoting and supporting the identification of health and safety related risks as well as providing advice on suitable risk controls.
- Collaborating with relevant stakeholders to implement key WHS risk management related strategies.
- Coordinating Incident Investigations and implementation of corrective measures to prevent recurrence.
- Undertaking of regular inspections and audits to assess the effectiveness of risk controls and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Facilitating the embedding of safety policies, procedures, compliance and risk management practices.
- Providing coaching and support to the safety leads during the monthly WHS inspection process and assisting to lead monthly safety lead network meetings.
- Partnering with managers to implement and embed safety requirements, procedures and guidelines.
- Supporting and contributing to WHS projects and initiatives aimed at improving safety performance and implementing new strategies.
- Demonstrating continuous commitment to WHS
What will you bring to the role: - Tertiary qualification as a WHS Advisor or a related field (incident investigation, lead auditor (preferred)
- Demonstrated experience in a similar role, with a strong background in incident investigation, risk management, and conducting risk assessments (preferred).
- Knowledge or experience in WHS requirements for contractor engagement.
- Ability to build rapport easily and manage multiple competing priorities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work autonomously while coordinating with stakeholders and handling competing priorities.
- Ability to understand, apply, and communicate health and safety requirements, with a strong understanding of WHS legislation in Qld, NSW, and Victoria.
- A current and valid driver’s licence and willingness and ability to travel regularly.
