Southern Cross Care QLD have an exciting opportunity for a Catering Assistant to join the team at our Caloundra Rise Retirement Village based in Little Mountain, on the beautiful Sunshine Coast.

About the role
Working in a fully functional commercial kitchen and open dining room you will be supporting a chef in production, serving customers, delivering meals and clearing tables for our village residents in accordance with the requirements of the Food Safety Program.
This role initially offers shifts working Thursdays and every second weekend. There is also opportunity for additional hours when events are planned.
Some of your duties may include:
- Greeting Guests: Warmly welcoming guests and seating them appropriately
- Providing Recommendations: Offering menu suggestions and answering guest questions.
- Taking Orders: Accurately and efficiently taking food and drink orders, paying attention to special requests and dietary restrictions.
- Checking in on Guests: Regularly checking in to ensure guest satisfaction and address any concerns.
- Delivering Food and Drinks: Ensuring orders are delivered promptly and accurately, checking for correct presentation.
- Maintaining a Clean Dining Area: Keeping the dining area clean and organized, including setting tables and pre-bussing.
- Handling Payments: Accurately processing payments and ensuring correct change.
- Collaborating with Kitchen Staff: Working effectively with kitchen staff to ensure timely service and efficient order processing.
- Participating in Training: Enhancing service skills and product knowledge through training sessions.
- Maintaining a Positive Attitude: Creating a welcoming and positive dining experience for guests.
What will you bring to the role? - Experience working in commercial kitchen (desired)
- Good knowledge of food safety (preferable HACCP).
- The ability to work as part of a team.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication skills.
- Exceptional customer service skills
- You will demonstrate compassion, sensitivity and maturity to provide high quality meals
- Attention to detail and ability to follow both verbal and written instructions
