Role Description
We’re looking for an entry-level Quantity Surveyor to support the delivery of our cost management services in Melbourne.

This opportunity would suit a recent graduate or someone with 1–2 years of cost principle experience.

Learning from experienced Senior Quantity Surveyors and Associates, you'll build your technical skills in major projects by assisting with:

• Undertaking measurements and quantity take-offs.
• Cost estimates, cost plans and supporting calculations.
• Bills of quantities, pricing schedules and tender comparisons.
• Reviewing contractor progress claims and supporting variation assessments.
• Maintaining cost records, variation registers and project documentation.
• Cost reports and tracking changes against project budgets.
• Gathering information from project teams, contractors and consultants to support accurate cost assessments.
• Attending project meetings, recording actions and following up information requests.

Candidate Profile
To be successful in this role, you’ll be a recent graduate or an early-career professional with approximately 1–2 years of relevant experience in Quantity Surveying, estimating, contract administration or a similar construction cost function.

You’ll need some exposure to construction cost principles, whether through university projects, an internship, a placement or employment. This could include measurement, estimating, cost planning, progress claims or variations.

We’re flexible on your project background, and experience in either buildings or infrastructure, with exposure to pre-contract or post-contract work, will be considered.

Most importantly will be your communication skills and willingness to learn.

You’ll also need:

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to ask questions, clarify information and keep colleagues informed.
• Strong numeracy, attention to detail and a methodical approach to checking your work.
• A willingness to learn how to interpret drawings, specifications and other project documents, building on any existing experience.
• The ability to organise tasks, meet agreed deadlines and communicate when you need support.
• Relevant qualifications in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Construction Economics, Engineering or a related discipline.

What’s In It For You
This role is a great opportunity to build your Quantity Surveying career alongside experienced professionals.  As a Graduate/Junior Quantity Surveyor at RPI, you’ll also receive:

• Practical guidance from Senior Quantity Surveyors and Associates as you develop your measurement, cost planning and contract administration skills.
• Ongoing career development and progression opportunities, including a tailored Professional Development Plan and a senior mentor.
• A supportive management team that cares about you and prioritises staff development.
• Access to events, activities and initiatives driven by our Health & Wellbeing and Diversity & Inclusion committees.
