RP Infrastructure is one of Australia’s largest cost engineering organisations delivering client-side cost estimates, budgets and cost planning for large, complex infrastructure projects across transport, water, wastewater, energy and utilities. Our Cost Engineering department is central to the effective management of project costs and resources, supporting clients to make informed investment and delivery decisions.
We are seeking an experienced Senior Estimating Lead (Transport & Civils) to take ownership of the Queensland operation, based in our Brisbane office. This is a new opportunity to work collaboratively as part of a large, multidisciplinary team. Role Overview
As the Senior Estimating Lead, you will lead the Queensland civil and transport estimating function and act as a key support to the National Estimating Director- Transport & Civils. You will be responsible for overseeing estimating outputs from early engagement through to tender submission, while mentoring and developing the team and maintaining strong client relationships. You can expect to lead a team with up to six direct reports.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Queensland civil and transport estimating team (up to six direct reports) and support the National Director as a trusted Queensland deputy.
- Manage and mentor the estimating team, overseeing bid submissions from initial enquiry through to final tender.
- Prepare client-side cost estimates, budgets and programs across projects of varying size, complexity, and discipline.
- Develop and review probabilistic, risk-based cost estimates, including cost risk modelling and confidence-based outputs.
- Apply modelling and simulation techniques to support risk analysis and contingency profiling.
- Develop high-quality reports and supporting documentation for client presentations and decision-making.
- Liaise with client-side stakeholders, managing expectations and escalating issues, risks, and recommendations to senior leadership as required.
- Assist in the preparation of project delivery documentation, including phasing diagrams and program-related materials.
- Maintain ongoing client liaison and contribute to business development activities.
Candidate Profile To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- A minimum of 10 years’ experience in the construction, infrastructure, or utilities sector (transport and/or civil experience strongly regarded).
- Proven leadership capability, including the ability to mentor and develop estimating teams.
- Demonstrated experience producing probabilistic, risk-based estimates, including contingency and confidence-level reporting.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with a collaborative approach.
- Experience with Pronamics Expert Estimation (preferred), Monte Carlo software packages such as @RISK (or equivalent tools) and Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Project.
- Experience with Bluebeam and P6 is desirable.
- A Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
