Total HRM is partnering with Farmtech to find a new leader for their Service Team!
Full Job Description
You're the one everyone comes to when a job gets tricky. You've trained the apprentices, sorted the breakdowns and kept the workshop moving. But your title and pay haven't caught up.
Maybe you're servicing the same imported machines day after day. You have no say in how the work gets done, and no line to the people who built them.
At Farmtech, you'll lead the service team behind machines designed and built in our own Wodonga facility. When a fault keeps coming back, you walk over to production and get it fixed at the source. You set the priorities, back your team, and still get your hands dirty when the job calls for it.
A day in the life in your new role
- Start at 7am at the job board with our Service Coordinator, planning the day and deciding which breakdown goes first
- Allocate jobs to your technicians and apprentices based on skill, location and who needs the experience
- Head out to a dairy or beef farm to help diagnose a stubborn hydraulic or electrical fault on a feed mixer
- Back in the shed, check a refurbishment is on track and sign off job cards with the parts recorded
- Run a toolbox talk, coach an apprentice through a new task, and give production the heads-up on a recurring fault
Your core talents - A mechanical trade qualification or a strong trade background - ag machinery, heavy diesel, plant or similar
- Experience leading a small team as a leading hand, supervisor or senior technician, including supervising and mentoring others
- Strong troubleshooting across mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems
- Organised and systematic, but quick to change the plan when a breakdown comes in
- Clear, practical communication with customers on farm and with your team
- A current driver's licence and happy to travel to farm
Working at Farmtech Farmtech is a family-owned agricultural machinery business. Around 70 people work at our modern facility on Moloney Drive in Wodonga, where our feed mixers are designed and built.
You'll lead a good bunch of experienced technicians, with apprentices coming through. It's not a factory job. You'll move between the shed and the field, working on lots of different machines with a mix of people.
Our Service Coordinator handles bookings, scheduling and parts, so you can focus on getting the work done well. And we're growing. More machines are coming through the shop and we've just added another field service technician, so there's plenty of support and plenty of work.
You will need full Australian working rights to be considered for this position and a current driver's licence. Additional assessments may apply.
Total HRM is dedicated to diversity and inclusion. If you're excited about this role but don't meet every single requirement or your past experience doesn't align perfectly, we encourage you to apply anyway. You may just be the right applicant for this or another role we have available.
