About the Role
As Workplace Safety & Wellbeing Manager, you’ll play a critical role in embedding a proactive safety culture and ensuring compliance with WHS legislation across Victoria and New South Wales. Reporting to the Head of People & Culture, you’ll oversee health, safety, and wellbeing strategy, risk management, and incident response, while championing initiatives that support employee resilience and psychological safety.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives on building strong relationships, influencing outcomes, and delivering practical solutions that balance compliance with care. You’ll be trusted to lead WHS systems, audits, and training, while also driving wellbeing programs that make a tangible difference to employee experience.
As the Workplace Safety & Wellbeing Manager You Will:
• Develop and implement Hume Bank’s Health, Safety & Wellbeing Strategy
• Lead WHS audits, investigations, site inspections, and ergonomic assessments
• Act as Return-to-Work Coordinator, managing WorkCover claims and supporting recovery programs
• Coordinate the Emergency Control Organisation, ensuring trained wardens and effective evacuation procedures
• Deliver engaging WHS training programs (First Aid, Fire Warden, Mental Health First Aid, Psychological Safety, and more)
• Partner with leaders to promote wellbeing initiatives and preventative health programs
• Provide guidance and act as a referral source for employees seeking wellbeing support
Skills We’re Looking For
• Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety (required); Degree in Business, HR or related discipline (desirable)
• Demonstrated experience managing WHS strategy and operations
• Strong knowledge of WHS legislation in VIC & NSW
• Practical ability to translate legislation into plain-English solutions
• Experience with WorkCover and Return-to-Work programs
• Proven ability to influence stakeholders and lead people
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• A proactive, positive, and solutions-focused mindset
• Current driver’s license
