UP Recruitment has partnered with one of New Zealand's most exciting boutique project management consultancies to appoint a Senior Project Manager to their Auckland team.

This is a genuine opportunity to join a growing business where you'll have ownership, client exposure and involvement across the full project lifecycle, rather than being another PM within a large corporate structure.
 
The Role

You'll step into a consultancy with a strong pipeline of repeat work, where you'll quickly take ownership of significant projects and work closely with clients, consultants and contractors.

Current projects span commercial, industrial, hospitality, retail, residential and complex refurbishment projects, including major hotel refurbishments, industrial developments and high-profile commercial projects.

Projects can range from smaller complex refurbishments through to $100M+ developments, giving you the opportunity to work across a genuinely varied project portfolio.

You'll be involved from early advisory, feasibility and design development through procurement, contract administration, construction and handover.

This isn't a role where you'll simply manage consultants from a distance. This firm operates with a hands-on approach to project delivery, so you'll be close to the design, commercial and construction process and expected to help solve problems and keep projects moving.

Because the business works heavily with private and repeat clients, you'll have the opportunity to build genuine long-term relationships and become a trusted advisor rather than simply delivering one project and moving on.

You'll join a boutique, entrepreneurial team that has deliberately built a model combining project management, design and construction expertise.

You'll work closely with experienced leadership, but you'll also have the autonomy to run your own projects, make decisions and take ownership of client relationships.

What You'll Need

• Minimum 8-10+ years' project management experience
• Project management consultancy, client-side or strong contractor-side experience
• Proven experience delivering building / construction projects
• Strong understanding of construction contracts and contract administration
• Experience coordinating consultants, contractors and wider project teams
• Strong commercial awareness across cost, programme, risk and procurement
• Comfortable working across design development and construction delivery
• The ability to run projects independently while contributing to a close-knit team
• Someone who is hands-on and commercially switched on, rather than purely focused on project reporting
• Ideally, experience across sectors such as commercial, industrial, hospitality, retail, residential or refurbishment
• An interest in developing client relationships and contributing to business development and repeat work
