UP Recruitment has partnered with one of New Zealand's leading main contractors to appoint an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to their Auckland team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced SQS to join an established commercial team and take ownership of significant construction projects ranging from $5m through to $100m+.

With a strong pipeline of repeat work across both the public and private sectors, you'll be involved across commercial, healthcare, hotels, industrial, government and aviation projects, including major new builds, refurbishments, extensions and fit-outs.

The Role:

• Take commercial ownership of construction projects from pre-construction through to final account
• Manage project budgets, cost reporting, forecasting and commercial performance
• Lead subcontractor procurement, tender analysis, negotiation and letting of packages
• Manage subcontractor progress claims, variations and final accounts
• Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities throughout project delivery
• Manage client variations, claims and contractual notices
• Work closely with Project Managers, Site Managers and the wider delivery team
• Provide commercial input during ECI and pre-construction stages
• Oversee and mentor junior and intermediate Quantity Surveyors
• Review commercial work and support the development of less experienced QSs
• Build strong relationships with clients, consultants and subcontractors
• Help drive strong commercial outcomes across multiple projects

About You:

• Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within a main contractor environment
• Strong commercial construction experience across medium to large-scale projects
• Confident managing projects and commercial packages with a high level of autonomy
• Strong subcontractor procurement, contract administration and cost management capability
• Excellent understanding of variations, claims, forecasting and final accounts
• Comfortable mentoring and overseeing junior members of the commercial team
• Strong communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills
• New Zealand construction experience would be highly advantageous
