We are seeking an experienced Tax and Asset Accountant to support The Pentarch Group through accurate, timely and compliant tax, fixed asset and lease accounting as well as statutory reporting. You will report into the General Manager Finance and support a portfolio of entities which covers our geographically dispersed sites with a workforce of approximately 650 employees.
In this Permanent, Full-time position based out of our Mooloolabaoffice, you will play a key part in tax and compliance including tax return preparation, tax affect accounting, asset accounting, capital expenditure and lease accounting.
Key responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Prepare and oversee tax entries, annual income tax and FBT return workpapers, GST files and IAS Returns.
- Maintaining complete tax work papers, reconciliations, approvals and lodgement evidence in accordance with finance and tax governance requirements.
- Accurately manage FBT records including the Entertainment Register and supporting information for motor vehicles, logbooks, leases and employee benefit queries.
- Maintaining tax and book fixed asset registers including additions, disposals, transfers and other movements in relevant ERP systems as well as reconciling book asset registers to the general ledger.
- Manage capital expenditure reports and detail files.
- Manage lease registers and lease accounting schedules, including the processing of new leases, renewals, modifications, reassessments and terminations.
- Prepare and support month-end lease accounting journals, including right-of-use asset depreciation, lease liability interest, lease payments and remeasurements.
- Support with balance sheet account reconciliations, depreciation journals and, lease review inputs where required.
The successful applicants will have: - Extensive experience in a finance, tax accounting, financial accounting or fixed asset accounting role within a complex corporate environment.
- Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, Commerce is essential with additional CA/CPA qualification preferred.
- A strong understanding of the full asset lifecycle.
- Practical knowledge of Australian GST/BAS, IAS, FBT, fuel tax credits, payroll tax concepts and income tax requirements.
- Experience in tax consolidation within a multi-entity organisation highly regarded.
- A background in construction, manufacturing, or similar industry is advantageous.
