We are seeking an experienced Shift Supervisor with strong leadership skills to join our Morwell Pallet Mill on a permanent, full-time basis. In this newly created role, you will play a critical role in the day-to-day function of our site operations, to produce the maximum quantity of high quality CHEP pallets. Reporting to the Sawmill & Pallet Manufacturing Manager - Victoria, you will oversee various operational processes, managing personnel, optimising resource utilisation, and implementing strategies to enhance productivity and profitability.
Key responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Providing strong leadership and coaching to our production team of 6, supporting personnel and fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
- Assist with recruitment, training & coaching, performance evaluation and expectation setting for our team.
- Work allocation, rostering, leave planning and timesheet data recording.
- Developing and maintaining production schedules to meet demand whilst optimising resource utilisation, ensuring the availability of raw materials, equipment and labour to meet targets.
- Overview of maintenance activities, attending downtime and planning meetings, and assisting in prioritising tasks.
- Monitoring and controlling production costs to meet budgetary targets.
- Drive a strong safety culture by promoting hazard identification and risk control.
- Help prepare regular reports on operational performance and KPIs and analyse data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and opportunities for growth.
About You: To be considered for this challenging and exciting position, you will need to demonstrate the following:
- Proven leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong operational, financial, and people management skills.
- A mechanical background is highly desirable.
- A LF forklift licence.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
- A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement.
