Our client, a leading food manufacturing and distribution company in Philadelphia, PA, is seeking an experienced HR Generalist to join their growing team!
This is an on-site/full-time/direct hire position
Salary based on experience: $75K-$85K
Job Summary:
The HR Generalist will work closely with operations and department leaders to support staffing needs, promote a positive workplace culture, address employee concerns, ensure consistent application of company policies, and maintain compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a production environment, interacting with employees across multiple shifts.
Responsibilities:
- Manage full-cycle recruitment for hourly production, skilled trades, professional, and leadership positions, including job posting, sourcing, screening, interviewing, selection, offer preparation, and pre-employment activities.
- Participate in recruiting events, job fairs, community outreach, and other recruiting initiatives.
- Develop and maintain relationships with staffing agencies, workforce development organizations, schools, and other recruiting partners.
- Coordinate and conduct new hire orientation and onboarding programs for employees across all shifts.
- Ensure timely completion and accuracy of new hire documentation, including I-9 verification and E-Verify requirements.
- Identify opportunities to improve the onboarding experience and early employee retention.
- Coordinate payroll and timekeeping processes to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing.
- Review timekeeping records, attendance, overtime, missed punches, shift differentials, and other payroll-related information for accuracy.
- Maintain accurate employee information within the HRIS and ensure timely processing of employee status changes.
- Coordinate new hire benefits enrollment and qualifying life event changes.
- Administer day-to-day employee benefits programs and serve as a resource to employees regarding benefit eligibility, enrollment, changes, and general questions.
- Support annual open enrollment activities and employee communications.
- Maintain accurate and confidential personnel, payroll, benefits, and employment records.
- Investigate employee complaints and workplace concerns in a timely, objective, and confidential manner.
- Support consistent and fair application of company policies, procedures, and disciplinary practices.
- Maintain a visible HR presence throughout the production facility and support employees across multiple shifts as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of the HR department and overall company objectives.
Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- 5-7 years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a manufacturing, food processing, meat processing, distribution, or other high-volume operational environment.
- Strong knowledge of employee relations, recruiting, onboarding, payroll/timekeeping, benefits, HRIS, and employment compliance.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively across all levels of the organization.
