Our client, a leading provider of home and commercial fitness equipment in Cincinnati, OH, is looking for a Retail Store Manager to join their team!
This is an on-site/full-time/direct-hire position
Salary range based on experience: $35K-$56K
Position Summary The Retail Manager is accountable for the day-to-day performance of our client's retail store. This leader sets the standard on the sales floor, maintains a professional and fully operational showroom, ensures timely administrative follow-through, and develops a capable, accountable sales team.
Sales Leadership Own personal performance, store results, and the quality of every customer interaction.
- Serve as the store's most knowledgeable and capable salesperson.
- Meet or exceed monthly personal sales and profit goals.
- Lead the store to meet or exceed monthly sales and profit goals.
- Maintain strong working knowledge of competitors, products, pricing, and market positioning.
- Keep product comparison resources current, organized, and accessible.
- Maintain the minimum profit percentage established by the Retail Sales Director.
- Negotiate within the Discount Policy, balancing the interests of the customer, the company, and the salesperson involved.
- Partner with the Regional Manager and Retail Sales Director to train new hires; provide ongoing coaching to all salespeople.
- Step in when a sale is at risk and provide appropriate support or leadership.
- Attend and actively participate in all required management and sales meetings.
Store Operations Maintain a clean, secure, properly stocked, and fully functional store.
Maintain the sales floor to the following standards:
- Assign daily cleaning zones; ensure the showroom is vacuumed, straightened, and presentation-ready.
- Price tags. Keep accurate price tags on every product at all times.
- Maintain an intentional floor layout and refresh it at least quarterly.
- Ensure every floor model is clean, complete, and in proper working order.
- Keep the floor stocked according to the approved floor plan; review and manage min/max levels intelligently.
- Product resources. Maintain organized product literature or know where to locate current electronic resources.
- Secure and reconcile the cash drawer; ensure all funds are accounted for.
- Maintain awareness of product, facility, and employee security.
- Load and unload transfers and freight shipments when necessary.
- File and follow through on store requests, receipts, purchase orders, and related documentation.
- Assist with product delivery or service when necessary.
- Complete weekly cycle counts so all inventory is counted each month; overall store inventory accuracy is the Retail Manager's responsibility.
- Ensure daily processing is completed and all deposits are made nightly.
Administrative Execution Complete, review, and organize all required documentation accurately and on time.
- Collect and submit all required periodic quiz responses.
- Complete a Monthly Employee Statistical Analysis for each store salesperson.
- Complete at least one Sales Presentation Evaluation for each sales employee every month.
- Review, process, and file all financing contracts and applications.
- Organize and follow up on special product requests.
- Organize and verify all product transfers.
- Ensure employees acknowledge required memos and that records are stored in the designated binder or approved electronic system.
- Complete and organize all manufacturer and company spiff documentation.
- Review open orders for accuracy, monitor Sales Order notes, and ensure timely updates and follow-through.
- Enter accounts receivable service checks.
- Maintain strict compliance with all requirements on the Store Checklist.
People Management Hire, train, coach, and hold the team accountable to G&G Fitness Equipment standards.
- Partner with the Regional Manager to recruit and hire new employees.
- Lead the onboarding and training of new employees.
- Coach and discipline employees promptly, consistently, and in accordance with company procedures.
- Partner with the Regional Manager to separate employees who do not meet role expectations, following company procedures.
- Delegate cleaning and operational responsibilities and verify completion.
Ensure every salesperson consistently: - Follows the core sales process and presentation standards.
- Tracks customer traffic in the approved conversion log.
- Follows the company's phone-answering protocol.
- Maintains professional dress and wears a name tag.
- Captures names and contact information for prospective customers and purchasing customers.
- Follows up on leads promptly and consistently.
- Sends required thank-you notes within four days of the sale.
- Completes required three- and eleven-month post-sale contacts by phone, text, or email.
- Resolves sales-credit disputes between sales associates fairly and promptly.
- Schedule and lead biweekly store meetings.
- Build employee schedules and resolve unexpected coverage issues.
- Resolve customer complaints with reasonable, cost-effective solutions, partnering with the Regional Manager when appropriate.
- Maintain adequate office supplies and current employee contact information.
Leadership Standard The Retail Manager is expected to make sound decisions independently, address issues promptly, solve problems effectively, and continuously improve store performance. Ultimately, the Retail Manager is accountable for the overall results, standards, and condition of the store.
