Our client in Buffalo, NY, is seeking a Laboratory Director to join their team!
This is an on-site/full-time/direct hire position
Salary range depending on experience: $150k-$180k
Mission: Lead all aspects of the lab, including production testing of client samples, state regulations, ISO Certifications, people management, and equipment and supply oversight. This role is responsible for managing a highly efficient and entrepreneurial-focused cannabis testing laboratory.
Competencies
- Able to work together on a high-performance, growth-focused Leadership Team (Accountable, Creative, and Adaptable to fast-changing startup and regulatory environment)
- Master's or PhD in chemistry required
- 3-5+ years of experience in the cannabis industry
- Instrument experience required - LCMS, GCMS, HPLC, ICPMS, GC Headspace, Micro, etc
- Experience with Analytical Chemistry
- Strong organizational and planning skills
Outcomes - Maintain the company's quality system and guidelines to achieve and maintain ISO17025 certification and New York State Laboratory certification
- Oversee all Lab operations and systems for analytical chemistry, microbiology, and QA/QC testing services for Cannabis and Hemp Products, including validating assays, process evaluation, production flow, equipment maintenance requirements, and personnel scheduling and assignments.
- Recruit, lead, and manage a team to meet the requirements of a fast-paced, high-volume laboratory
- Ensure ongoing compliance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations in which we currently operate (current and future) and maintain positive relationships with regulatory groups in which we operate.
- Develop long-term contingency plans for a changing regulatory environment
- Communicate effectively with both internal and external customers in identifying, preventing, detecting, and correcting non-compliance items
- Serve as the focal point for a cannabis laboratory's quality assurance and quality control, and be responsible for monitoring and/or reviewing quality control data;
- Arrange for or conduct annual internal audits of a cannabis laboratory's entire quality system and testing operation;
- Manage all aspects of the laboratory, leading to a profitable and highly efficient operation producing quality testing and fast turnaround.
