Our client in Buffalo, NY, is seeking a Financial Controller to join their team!
This is a full-time/onsite/direct-hire position
Salary based on experience: $80k-$100K
Position Summary:
The Financial Controller will lead all accounting operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and financial integrity across the organization. This role oversees budgeting, cash management, financial reporting, and regulatory compliance, while serving as a trusted advisor to leadership. The ideal candidate brings strong analytical capabilities, a detail-driven approach, and the ability to translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage all aspects of accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger accounting.
- Oversee cash management processes and maintain effective budgeting practices.
- Conduct balance sheet reconciliation and account analysis to ensure financial integrity.
- Prepare regulatory reports and manage technical accounting functions as required.
- Perform month-end closing process, recording journal entries, and preparing accurate monthly and annual financial statements, ensuring compliance with (GAAP)
- Prepare supporting documents and requests for the completion of tax returns as required by the external CPA audit firm.
- Monitor cash and manage payables to enhance cash flow and vendor relationships
- Ensure the company is compliant with all federal, state, and local regulations
- Analyze, consolidate, and direct all cost accounting procedures together with other statistical and routine reports
- Build and maintain relationships with banks and lenders
- Monitor inventory levels and the inventory cycle counting program, including measurement of obsolete inventory
- Review commission reports and validate payment to reps
Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (required)
- CPA or equivalent certification (preferred)
- 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment
- Strong knowledge of cash management, budgeting, and financial principles
- Advanced analytical skills with expertise in reconciliation and financial analysis
- Ability to manage multiple priorities independently while meeting deadlines
- Proficiency with ERP systems (Made2Manage and Odoo helpful), Microsoft Excel, and database concepts
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate integrity, professionalism, and sound judgment
Preferred Qualifications: - CPA or equivalent professional certification
- Experience collaborating cross-functionally in a continuous improvement environment
- Demonstrated ability to navigate complex financial challenges with professionalism
