CAD DESIGNER - NORTH LONDON

Overview
This is an exciting opportunity for a CAD Designer to join a creative, design-led workshop producing unique sculptural lighting and furniture pieces for interior designers, private clients, collectors, and high-end projects globally.
You will play a key role in ensuring every piece is accurately represented, engineered to the highest standards, and ready for seamless manufacturing within an in-house fabrication environment.
About the Workshop
The studio creates handcrafted functional art, combining traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design. Each piece is fabricated on-site by skilled artisans using materials such as cast bronze, forged steel, glass, timber, ceramics and more.
The workshop culture is creative, collaborative and quality-driven, with a strong focus on exceptional craftsmanship, customer experience, and teamwork.
The Role
As a CAD Designer, you will be responsible for producing accurate, detailed technical drawings and CAD models that reflect the creative intent of the designers while supporting efficient, right-first-time manufacturing.
You will liaise closely with design, fabrication, metalwork, finishing, assembly, and project teams to ensure all drawings and documentation are clear, complete, and aligned with production requirements.
This is an on-site, hands-on role, working daily with makers, fabricators and other specialists across multiple departments.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Design & CAD Work
- Produce high-quality 2D and 3D CAD drawings for bespoke and standard collections.
- Create manufacturing drawings in AutoCAD and Inventor, ensuring accuracy and clarity.
- Translate designers' concepts, sketches and client briefs into fully realised technical models.
- Interpret architectural drawings and convert them into relevant technical documentation.
Manufacturing Support - Check prototypes and works-in-progress against drawings; confidently flag discrepancies or improvements.
- Liaise with fabricators, metalworkers and workshop teams to ensure understanding of drawings and technical requirements.
- Support right-first-time production by preparing precise and fully resolved documentation.
Documentation & Client Support - Produce clear, client-ready installation and aftercare guides.
- Manage and maintain drawing databases, technical assets and shared files.
- Prepare bespoke drawings for commissioned pieces and adapt standard collections as required.
Quality, Standards & Processes - Maintain high standards of finish, detail, form and accuracy in all technical outputs.
- Work to and help refine departmental KPIs, processes, and best practices.
- Uphold design codes, technical principles and quality benchmarks across all work.

Desirable Experience - Experience working with Bills of Materials (BOMs).
- Hand sketching ability for ideation and concept communication.
- Knowledge of Rhino or rendering tools such as Keyshot.
- Experience designing with materials like metal, glass, timber, stone, ceramics or textiles.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Previous experience in a similar CAD, product design, or manufacturing design role.
Qualifications - BA/BSc in Product Design, Architecture, or a related field.
