About the role
We are seeking an experienced safety lawyer to join us at Senior Associate to Special Counsel level. You will work alongside Michael Selinger and directly with clients to manage WHS matters from instruction through to completion. Should you wish to include broader employment matters within your practice, there will be opportunity to do so however this position can also be wholly safety focused.
Michael has over 25 years’ experience and specialises in work health and safety and employment law. He advises clients across construction, manufacturing, professional services, transport and government, with extensive experience in WHS prosecutions, workplace investigations, employment disputes and industrial matters.
Your clients will include a broad range of construction, infrastructure, and government organisations as well as major shopping centre and property owners. Your immediate priority will be involvement in WHS prosecutions in the mining sector.
About you
You will have deep expertise in safety, with extensive experience in contested litigation matters, gained from a regulatory, private practice or government environment. You will be highly capable of building trusted relationships with clients and stakeholders, with the ability to provide highly specialised and technical advice.
You will have exceptional drafting skills with experience in providing written advice to corporate clients, boards and/ or senior executives. You also have strong commercial acumen with experience maintaining accurate and up-to-date client files, meeting budget expectations and end of month billing processes and deadlines.
