Our Dispute Resolution & Litigation practice in Melbourne is a dynamic group with a diverse range of interesting work, and a place for lawyers and support staff to further develop, grow and be part of a genuine team. Our work includes acting for listed entities, SMEs, large REITs, directors and officers, industry superfunds, state and federal governments, insolvency practitioners, financiers, large family companies and the list goes on. About the role
Given recent growth in the team, we are seeking a Junior Legal Assistant with some foundational support experience or legal knowledge, to work 3 days per week. This is a great opportunity for candidates starting their career in legal administration or law students early in their degree, who have a genuine interest in admin support.
With guidance and training from an experienced Legal Assistant, you will support a number of legal professionals, including Partners, Special Counsel, Senior Associates, and Lawyers, across a range of matters. Day to day you can expect to:
- Provide comprehensive administrative and secretarial support to legal professionals
- Draft and format correspondence, legal documents, and reports
- Collate briefs to counsel, affidavits and exhibits (electronically)
- Open and close client files, ensuring compliance with internal procedures
- Assist with time entry, billing processes, and document management
- Manage calendars, schedule meetings, and coordinate travel arrangements when required
- Liaise with clients, internal stakeholders, and external service providers
About you You will be an enthusiastic, self-starter who is genuinely invested in supporting your peers and lawyers to achieve the best possible results for clients. You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, a keen eye for detail and a can-do attitude.
You will have the ability manage multiple tasks, follow instructions and a strong desire to learn and contribute to a positive and collaborative work culture. You will also possess excellent organisational skills and possess strong capability in Word and picking up new technology and systems.
