About the Team
Led by two of the market leaders in this area of practice, Geoff Farnsworth and Nathan Cecil, the team works on a range of both front and back end work for clients within the shipping, transport, manufacturing and logistics and domestic and international trade sectors.
About the Role
In addition to the partners, the team consists of an experienced SA and junior lawyer and we are seeking to hire someone at the associate/junior SA level.
As a member of the team you will be offered the opportunity to work on disputes, commercial and regulatory matters (including competition).
The role is essentially that of a mixed commercial litigator (predominantly), commercial lawyer and regulatory lawyer, but with a focus on clients and matters involving trade, transport and logistics. Examples of the range of work undertaken by the group includes:
- Superior Court litigation, often with an international aspect
- International and domestic commercial arbitration
- Procurement and logistics aspects of property and infrastructure projects
- Ship and high-value yacht sale, purchase and repair
- Commodity sale and contract drafting and disputes
- Regulatory advice, compliance and statutory interpretation
About You The ideal candidate will have had the opportunity to gain exposure to clients in the sector but this is by no means a pre-requisite. Of greater importance is your experience as a commercial disputes lawyer, ideally with exposure to international arrangements or involving overseas clients, who has a genuine interest in working with clients in the sector.
You will also demonstrate excellent communication skills and drive and enjoy a busy work environment and a collaborative work culture.
