About the talent pool
We are developing a talent pool of legal assistants seeking to work on a full time or part time basis.
We are interested in those looking for permanent, temporary or contract opportunities who possess experience as a legal assistant. Included in this are those who are travelling on a Working Holiday Visa and seeking opportunities to work whilst living in Australia and to fund your travels. Ideally a commitment of at least 6 months is our preference.
If you are a student seeking an opportunity, we will consider you if you are in the early stages of your studies and able to commit to 3-4 days per week.
About the role
Legal Assistant opportunities are likely to arise in any of our core practice groups (Workplace Relations & Safety, Corporate & Commercial, Property, Planning & Development, Dispute Resolution & Litigation or Construction, Infrastructure & Projects) or as a Float Legal Assistant where you will gain exposure to all areas, as well as front of house reception duties.
Daily tasks may include:
- Opening and closing of files and matters
- File maintenance - electronic (iManage)
- Editing documents in mark up and maintaining version control
- Meeting coordination (Outlook)
- Preparation of correspondence and various commercial documents
- Preparation of excel spreadsheets
- Preparation of PowerPoint presentations
- Managing the billing process for your team
- General administration
About you
Depending on the role, you will have at least 6-12 months experience in a legal support or legal reception role, with a can-do attitude and genuine interest in developing your legal support skills.
You will also have:
- Excellent attention to detail;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel with an ability to learn systems quickly;
- Excellent client service skills;
- Friendly and professional communication (both verbal and written);
- Strong organisational skills;
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn;
- The ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team;
- The ability to take instructions and demonstrate initiative.
