About the team
This is an exciting opportunity for a high performing disputes lawyer to join our Brisbane litigation practice.
Our Dispute Resolution & Litigation practice in Brisbane is a dynamic group with a diverse range of interesting work, and a place for lawyers to further develop, grow and be part of a genuine team. Our work includes acting for state and federal governments, regulated entities and listed entities and SMEs. Our partners all have areas of expertise and industry leadership that each of our team members get to experience.
About the role
We are seeking an experienced and intelligent disputes lawyer to work closely with Partner Joanne Jary and a team of lawyers and paralegals both in Brisbane and nationally on a critical and complex matter for the Commonwealth Government. With direct engagement with the client and working within a large cohort focused on this particular matter, you will thrive in both working autonomously and as part of a team.
While your key focus will be on the significant Commonwealth matter, examples of the broader work Joanne’s team undertakes which you will be involved in includes:
- Acting for companies in regulatory investigations (including by the ACCC)
- Acting for government agencies in respect of judicial review proceedings
- Acting for corporate entities in regulatory dispute matters
- Acting for state and federal governments on a range of advice matters
About you You will be an engaged and driven commercial disputes lawyer with a genuine desire to continually improve and deliver outstanding results for your clients. You will have excellent communication and drafting skills, enjoy a busy work environment and thrive in a collaborative work culture. You will be a highly skilled lawyer with outstanding technical ability and a desire to help those around you. You will enjoy working with less experienced lawyers and possess the capability to not only supervise and develop others but also motivate and contribute to the overall morale and success of the team.
In addition, you will:
- Be operating at Associate level with your experience gained as a commercial litigator in a well-regarded litigation practice.
- Have the proven ability to coordinate, manage workflows under pressure and delegate appropriately to a team of lawyers and paralegals.
- Have experience in engaging with a broad range of individual, corporate and government clients with the ability to cultivate successful and trusted client relationships.
- Possess superior analytical, research and drafting skills.
- Hold or be in the position to hold a Baseline Security Clearance
Having prior experience in investigations and/or government disputes work will be a bonus but of greater importance is commercial disputes experience.
This is an excellent opportunity for a talented lawyer to join a successful team and advance their career in the law.
