About the team
Our national Corporate & Commercial group works with our clients across a variety of sectors, across the full spectrum of corporate and commercial transactions, including:
- Data, Privacy and Technology;
- Intellectual Property;
- Media and advertising;
- Private equity and venture capital;
- Joint ventures, partnerships and business structuring and restructuring;
- Complex commercial agreements;

- Company secretarial matters.
About the role The role will be to support a number of fee earners who work across commercial and corporate matters including IP, Data and Privacy.
Given the nature of the work undertaken by the team a large component of the role will be to take a lead in the teams billing throughout the course of each month as well as in provision of general administration support.
With regard, to billing the role will involve:
- ensure that time recording is entered in a timely manner by the fee earners and where needed provide support in this regard;
- ensure that charge out rates are correct for each client on creation of a matter;
- production of WIP reports for review;
- production of pre-bills and subsequent amendments are made;
- finalise bills and post;
- where appropriate send bills to the client;
- liaising with clients and other relevant stakeholders on billing and related issues.
With regard, to general administration support the role will involve:
- opening and closing of files and matters
- file maintenance - electronic (FileSite)
- editing documents in mark up and maintaining version control
- meeting coordination (Outlook)
- preparation of correspondence and various commercial documents
- preparation of excel spreadsheets
- preparation of PowerPoint presentations
- general administration
The nature of the practice, particularly regarding IT/TM matters, requires billing to be undertaken throughout the month.
About you You may currently be in a role where billing is your focus but you are looking to move into position offering a wider scope to your role or you may be a legal assistant who loves billing and wants a role where you can have more of a focus on this.
You will enjoy working as a team within a fast paced, deadline driven environment. You will have a can-do attitude with a genuine desire to achieve client goals and pitch in with any task required to achieve those outcomes. You will also have:
- At least 4 years’ experience in a similar role;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel with an ability to learn systems quickly;
- Experience working with Aderant and Expert (preferred);
- Excellent client service skills;
- Friendly and professional communication (both verbal and written);
- A keen eye for detail and excellent organisational skills;
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn;
- The ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team;
- The ability to take instructions and demonstrate initiative.
