About the role
We have an opportunity for an experienced Precedents Technician to join our Practice Quality & Risk team. Reporting to the National Precedents Manager, you will play a key role in helping the team to deliver drafting and document production efficiencies.
Key areas of responsibility are:
- creating, updating and maintaining templates, forms, clause libraries and precedents
- automating precedents using our document assembly tools (including styling, formatting, designing automation logic, creating and automating templates, thorough testing and publishing)
- maintaining the Word ribbon and developing Word templates and tools in consultation with our IT team and external providers
- working with our IT team to integrate automated precedents with workflow and related systems
- identifying opportunities to streamline document production practices across the firm
- helping to deliver projects aimed at enhancing document quality and production efficiencies
- contributing to the development and maintenance of the team’s policies and procedures
- delivering training in relation to precedents, document templates, firm styles, and document production and editing tools, and providing responsive helpdesk support for users.
This position can be based in Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney or Canberra and we are open to part-time or full-time working patterns including flexible arrangements.
About you
To be successful in this position you will be highly organised and motivated to add value, with a strong client service approach.
You must also possess the following traits and experience:
- an advanced working knowledge of MS Word
- experience in document automation and precedents administration
- strong written and verbal communication skills
- excellent attention to detail and a strong focus on problem solving
- ability to cooperate with team members to collaborate on projects, use shared protocols, and contribute to design
- commitment to producing high quality work
- genuine interest in process improvement and document automation
- ability to work independently, manage projects and priorities and adapt to new systems.
Our ideal candidate will have law firm experience, or at least, an understanding and knowledge of legal practice environments and operations.
